Kiwanis Club of Polk City's 3rd Grade Dictionary Distribution

Al Burrows and Bill Sharp, of the Kiwanis Club of Polk City, presented dictionaries to all the third graders at North Polk, Central Elementary School this afternoon. Forty-two, third graders received a dictionary from the Kiwanis Club of Polk City's 2013 distribution. We will be presenting dictionaries to all third graders at North Polk, West Elementary School tomorrow morning. We are very pleased to be able to provide these dictionaries to all third graders in the North Polk School District as one way to promote literacy among the children within our community. It is with the support of many people, contributing to our fundraising events, that allows us to conduct this kind of distribution. We appreciate the community's support and encourage members of our community who are not currently Kiwanis members to consider joining us in our volunteer efforts focusing on serving our children. See the posting below regarding this Thursday night's meeting. We hope you can join us!

Thursday, December 5, 2013 Kiwanis Club of Polk City Meeting

The Kiwanis Club of Polk City will hold its first Thursday of the month meeting at the Polk City Library at 6:30pm with a program at 7:00 pm. We are inviting those in the community who want to be part of a volunteer organization that benefits the children of our community to visit. Members also volunteer their time, talents and energies to assist with many programs in our local schools (i.e. providing 3rd grade dictionaries, assisting with reading programs, chess club, mentoring programs, Senior Scholarships). Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Our Motto is “Serving the Children of the World”. We invite you to come and learn more about our organization at this meeting. No reservations or invitation is necessary; just come as you are.
