Kiwanis Club of Polk City Virtual Christmas Treasures Silent Auction

The Kiwanis Club of Polk City is hosting a virtual Christmas Treasures Silent Auction beginning tomorrow, November 26 through Sunday, December 6. We hope many will participate in the auction as we hope this will be a large fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club for 2020. As you know, this has been a difficult year for most non-profits trying to raise money for their causes. Our cause, in the Kiwanis Club of Polk City, is to return the funds raised back to the community for services and programs which focus on children and families such as North Polk High School Senior Scholarships, money for food for families in need, money to assist the North Polk Schools summer lunch program, playground equipment and park benches and tables, and many other services and programs.

We will post the auction details tomorrow so you can join in and purchase some of the 85 +  donated items from local businesses.

Some of the Polk City Business contributing are:

Donate to the Kiwanis Club of Polk City

The year 2020 has been tough on all non-profits due to the Coronavirus! It's been very difficult to plan usual fundraiser events. For example, The Kiwanis Club of Polk City lost over $3,500 this summer just due to Polk City not holding its Four Seasons festival; thereby, eliminating our Kiwanis Food Stand and Barbecue Ad Poster, our biggest single fundraiser event. While the Kiwanis Club of Polk City has been able to hold two smaller, more socially distant fundraiser events (ie., pancakes at Lakeside Church in June, and selling brats/hot dogs during the Fender's Brewery Run this past Sunday), they provided a small amount of needed funds for our community projects and services that focus on children and families within our Polk City/North Polk community.

If you were unable to stop by our brats/hot dogs tent at this past Sunday's Fender's Brewery Run, and would like to, and can, donate to the Kiwanis Club of Polk City's community programs and services, please consider donating through our Venmo account at Polk City Kiwanis, @pckiwanis. Any donations through our Venmo account would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your consideration and support!

Fenders Brewery Run and Kiwanis Club of Polk City

Join us Sunday, September 27th for a 5kish fun run that starts and ends at Fenders Brewing in Polk City. Run, walk, or jog.  No matter how fast you go, there will be a beer waiting for you at the finish line!  Be active, have fun, give back!  A portion of these proceeds will benefit the local Kiwanis Club of Polk City which is dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Polk City will be selling brats or hot dogs to go with that beer from around 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Cost will be a free-will donation.  Donations raised will go towards our service projects taking place throughout the year including North Polk High School Senior Scholarships;  Food for Needy Families within our community;  projects focusing on children within the North Polk Schools and community; and Polk City parks and playgrounds.  Even if you're not running, walking, or jogging, stop by and enjoy a brat or hot dog and a beer!  Gatorade and water will also be available for children and others.

The registration information for the run is here; otherwise, go to their Facebook page or Instagram @iabreweryrun for additional information.

Hope to see you there!!!!

Kiwanis Club of Polk City Sponsor Placemat

Click on the link at the top of this post to see the details about our Kiwanis Club of Polk City Pancake Breakfast coming to the Lakeside Fellowship Church parking lot on Saturday, June 20 from 7 to 11 am.  This is our postponed Palm Saturday Breakfast, now as a grab and go breakfast.  We look forward to many in the community dropping by to grab a pancake breakfast.  It will be free will donation.  The Kiwanis Club has made recent donations to several local programs helping families during this pandemic time including $3,000 to the Methodist Church's Comet Cupboard,  $1,000 to the North Polk School District's Grab and Go lunch program, and of course, our annual $1,000 scholarships to three very worthy North Polk High School seniors ($3,000).  The proceeds from this breakfast will help us with the funding of those programs benefiting children and families within our Polk City area community.

We have many local businesses helping to sponsor the breakfast, especially Luana Savings Bank. Click on the link above (Kiwanis Club of Polk City Sponsor Placemat) to see all 40 sponsors.

You will get another chance to see who those 40 other local businesses are which helped sponsor this event as you drive through the ordering line off of Tyler St.  You will receive the placemat at the ordering/payment tent containing the ads of all 40 businesses.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 20th of this month!!!

Kiwanis Club of Polk City Donates to Family Support Programs

The Kiwanis Club of Polk City has donated $3,000 to Polk City United Methodist Church, Comets' Cupboard program, to help with providing food to community members in need during this pandemic event. In addition, the Kiwanis Club has donated $1,000 to the North Polk Community School District to assist with funding their grab and go lunch program that was operated by the school district during the last weeks of the school year, again to help families with food needs. Another $749.48 was donated to the Polk City Foundation to help causes the community foundation believes to be important and needed in the community.

Kiwanis Club of Polk City Awards Three Scholarships

On May 17, 2020, several members of the Kiwanis Club of Polk City presented three well deserving North Polk High School seniors $1,000 scholarships towards their first year of college costs coming up this fall. The scholarships were presented in the students' driveways with their families present, so all could honor the students' great work throughout their high school years. It was such a pleasure for the Kiwanis Club members to be a part of helping these hardworking students.

We also wish to thank the many community members who participate in our fundraisers each year, helping us raise the funds available to be directed back to the community, focusing on assistance to children and families!

Thank you!

Kiwanis Club of Polk City's Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Pancake Breakfast

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Polk City Kiwanis was to be held on Saturday, April 4 at the fields of Lakeside Fellowship Church, 1121 W. Bridge Rd., Polk City. for kids 8 and under.

Due to the coronavirus at this time, the Kiwanis Club of Polk City has decided we need to cancel the Easter Egg Hunt for this year!

The Kiwanis Club was also to host our Annual 'FREE WILL DONATION' Pancake Breakfast the same day in the Lakeside Fellowship Church. The 'free will donation' proceeds help sponsor 5th graders at Kiwanis Camp OK in June and sponsor Key Club Conference attendees.

Due to the coronavirus at this time, the Kiwanis Club of Polk City has decided to postpone the Pancake Breakfast to a later date to be determined at a later date. Since the breakfast is an important fundraiser for upcoming community projects and events, we hope to be able to hold it as soon as possible; however, we need to wait until federal and state guidelines allow for such events to be held with the public's safety to be of utmost importance. We hope to see you all later this spring or early summer, if that timeline is at all possible, at the Kiwanis Club of Polk City's Pancake Breakfast!!!

We hope to still hold the breakfast at Lakeside Fellowship, and hope to still have games and crafts in their gym. Luana Savings Bank will be the sponsor of the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast whenever it can be held. We appreciate their great support!
