The Kiwanis Club of Polk City is hosting a virtual Christmas Treasures Silent Auction beginning tomorrow, November 26 through Sunday, December 6. We hope many will participate in the auction as we hope this will be a large fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club for 2020. As you know, this has been a difficult year for most non-profits trying to raise money for their causes. Our cause, in the Kiwanis Club of Polk City, is to return the funds raised back to the community for services and programs which focus on children and families such as North Polk High School Senior Scholarships, money for food for families in need, money to assist the North Polk Schools summer lunch program, playground equipment and park benches and tables, and many other services and programs.
We will post the auction details tomorrow so you can join in and purchase some of the 85 + donated items from local businesses.
The year 2020 has been tough on all non-profits due to the Coronavirus! It's been very difficult to plan usual fundraiser events. For example, The Kiwanis Club of Polk City lost over $3,500 this summer just due to Polk City not holding its Four Seasons festival; thereby, eliminating our Kiwanis Food Stand and Barbecue Ad Poster, our biggest single fundraiser event. While the Kiwanis Club of Polk City has been able to hold two smaller, more socially distant fundraiser events (ie., pancakes at Lakeside Church in June, and selling brats/hot dogs during the Fender's Brewery Run this past Sunday), they provided a small amount of needed funds for our community projects and services that focus on children and families within our Polk City/North Polk community.
Join us Sunday, September 27th for a 5kish fun run that starts and ends at Fenders Brewing in Polk City. Run, walk, or jog. No matter how fast you go, there will be a beer waiting for you at the finish line! Be active, have fun, give back! A portion of these proceeds will benefit the local Kiwanis Club of Polk City which is dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Polk City will be selling brats or hot dogs to go with that beer from around 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Cost will be a free-will donation. Donations raised will go towards our service projects taking place throughout the year including North Polk High School Senior Scholarships; Food for Needy Families within our community; projects focusing on children within the North Polk Schools and community; and Polk City parks and playgrounds. Even if you're not running, walking, or jogging, stop by and enjoy a brat or hot dog and a beer! Gatorade and water will also be available for children and others.
The registration information for the run is here; otherwise, go to their Facebook page or Instagram @iabreweryrun for additional information.
Hope to see you there!!!!
