Kiwanis Club of Polk City Distributes Dictionaries

The Kiwanis Club of Polk City distributed dictionaries to North Polk Schools' 3rd graders yesterday, 133 dictionaries in all. The Kiwanis Club has been doing that each year for at least the past 10 years. Kiwanis focuses service projects on children and their families. This service project targets literacy development and knowledge acquisition. Thanks to so many in the community who participate in our fundraisers to raise money to give back to the community, such as this Dictionary Project and the upcoming Christmas Food Baskets for needy families.

Our next fundraising event will be the Christmas Treasures Silent Auction to be held the evening of the Polk City Tree Lighting, Tuesday, December 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Polk City Community Room. We hope to see many community members bidding for the variety of treasures local businesses have donated for this silent auction. We thank them and we thank you!

See you there!

Kiwanis Club of Polk City Christmas Treasures Silent Auction

Kiwanis Club of Polk City's last fundraiser of the year is a Silent Auction to raise funds for the purchase of several Christmas Food Baskets for Polk City residents and the purchase of dictionaries for every 3rd grade North Polk student. Dictionaries for 3rd graders is a Kiwanis tradition for the last 11 years.
EACH KIWANIS MEMBER IS ASKING A LOCAL BUSINESS FOR A DONATION OF A PRIZE to place in our auction to be held on Tuesday, December 4th during the Polk City Tree Lighting. The donated items will be on display and the auction held in the Polk City Community Room and is scheduled from 5:00 through 8:00 pm with pickup from 8:00 to 8:30 pm.  Last year, our Kiwanis Club raised approximately $800 from this event. WE HOPE TO BEAT THAT NUMBER THIS YEAR TO HELP MORE FAMILIES IN NEED!

If you are a business owner, please consider donating generously. It might be a business item or service or a gift certificate for $25 to $50 or more. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated by the 3rd grade students receiving dictionaries and to the families receiving Christmas Food.

Thank you!
